A Beginners Guide To The Clickbank Marketplace & The Clickbank Directory

Affiliate marketing isn't as easy as you may think it is, but with some effort on your part, you can make it a successful venture. If you have ever given thought about affiliate marketing as a way to supplement your income, then let me introduce you to the clickbank marketplace. Using the clickbank directory is an easy first step.

The first thing you will have to do is create an affiliate account (its free) & pick a nickname. This nickname will be your personal affiliate id that will be attached to each and every product you choose to promote. So make up a nickname that will be easily remembered by you.

Once you have created an account, now you can start browsing through all of the information products that are listed in the clickbank marketplace & the clickbank directory. The first thing you will see is an information box where you can set the parameters to narrow down your search for whatever product you wish to start promoting.

It is really very easy to use and it prompts you as to which categories are available. Just select from the drop down menu which category you want to start your search. Or, enter any keyword you wish in the appropriate field to even narrow down your search further.

To the right, you will see more drop down menus which you do not necessarily have to input, but will greatly enhance the search process. So lets take a few moments to discuss briefly these optional menu choices and why they are actually very important.

The sort-by option. In this menu you have several choices to help refine your search, but the only two I am going to focus on is popularity and gravity.

The popularity option. This will let you know which products are popular among other marketers and can give an indication about which products are actually selling.

The gravity option. Gravity, to make it simple, is an indicator of actual sales of the product in question. The higher the gravity, the more sales it is actually generating. The lower the gravity, the less it is selling. However, a low gravity score may only be there because the product is new and doesn't necessarily mean the product does not have potential.

That is why it is very important for you to research each product you may be interested in promoting before actually doing so. Why? In the case of gravity, you could be the first to discover a new product that could become the next big seller in the clickbank marketplace. Also in the case of popularity, the more popular a product may be the more everyone else is promoting the same product.

That is not necessarily a bad thing. It just means the product is selling well & there is a good bit of competition in that particular niche. Which translates to your success being determined by your marketing skills. But hey, that's what it is all about anyway. Your skills to out perform your competition.

Now lets assume you have found a product you think is going to be the next big thing since sliced bread. What now? This is where your nickname comes into play. Underneath each product description you will see two links. One is so you can view the sales page (I highly recommend that you do so) and the other one is the create HopLink link.

When you click on the create link, you will see a small pop up window at the top left side of your screen. Just enter your unique clickbank nickname and click generate. This will generate a special link to the sales page of the product you are promoting that includes your id.

This is how you get paid, so be very diligent about making sure you are using your clickbank id correctly when entering that information before link generation. Otherwise all of your efforts could be putting money in someone elses pocket.

Now that you have generated your link, you need to copy and paste it into the web page that is going to be promoting that product. Creating web pages are very easy and you do not even need your own website, server, or need to know very much about how the web stuff works.

You have many options and a lot of them are free.
You can create a free wordpress or google blog. You can create social networking pages on sites such as myspace and facebook. Both free to do. You can create a lens on squidoo for free and promote your product there. You can write articles such as this, and submit them to the article directories. Most of them offer submissions free of charge.

So you see, with a little effort on your part, you can make affiliate marketing a success when using the clickbank marketplace & the clickbank directory.
