8 Golfing Buddies, 4 States, 2 Days and 1 Bachelor Party
Heres a recipe for you: get a group of childhood friends, mix in a bachelor party, throw in four rounds of golf in 4 different states and all of this in 2 days; doesnt sound like a healthy meal does it??? Thats what I cooked up and let me tell you, it was tasty.
A group of us were planning my bachelor party in Las Vegas. Like most bachelor parties there was going to be lavish dinners, a club or 3, maybe a few cocktails, a bit of gambling and some golf; kind of what you expect from Vegas. It looked great on paper but seemed kind of redundant; I wanted mine to be over the top and different. After a few days of thinking about it, I came up with my ultimate weekend.
We arrived at TPC Valencia, a beautiful country club located 30 minutes north of downtown Los Angeles. The first group teed off at 6:37am followed by the second group at 6:42am. When that round was done, we took the 15 minute drive to Burbank Airport and jumped on a plane to Las Vegas.
We arrived in Las Vegas and headed straight to Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas, one of the nicest golf courses in the Las Vegas area. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at the clubhouse overlooking Celine Dions house (by house I mean palace) and headed off to play our second round of the day.
** So far weve played golf in California and Las Vegas in one day, the rest of the night was a blur so I will skip to Sunday **
We stumbled out of bed Sunday morning and took the 75 mile drive to The Palms Golf Club located in Littlefield, Arizona; on the Nevada / Arizona border, right outside of Mesquite. Im not afraid to admit that a few of us were hurting from the day before. After a great round of golf which involved a hole in one, we jumped into the rental van and headed farther north up to St. George, Utah.
The Ledges Golf Club in St. George, Utah was waiting for us with open arms. The staff was nice enough to have food waiting for us in our carts when they caught wind of what we were trying to accomplish. Theres nothing like good food and a few energy drinks to help you through a long day. Although most of us were running on empty, we couldnt help but want to play well at arguably the nicest golf course in Utah.
After all was said and done, myself and 7 of my longtime friends played golf in 4 different states in 2 days. Some people search for adventure through their travels or vacations, I prefer to build long lasting memories through my ventures. This was the greatest weekend of my life and now that Im divorced Im thinking about doing it again.
