7 Yeast Infection Itching Relief

By:

Yeast infections, also known as Candida are caused by groups of microscopic fungi and yeast. Yeast is a fungus that naturally lives in small numbers within the vagina, but is kept under control by other healthy organisms within the body. Aside from religiously applying anti-fungal lotions, creams, or ointments, there are also natural yeast infection treatments that you can try. These remedies are safe and are usually effective in combating Candida Albicans overgrowth:

Plain yogurt is one of the most effective natural cure for yeast infection. You can either consume plain yogurt (without sugar) or apply it to the affected area to reduce itching. One should be careful not to add sugar to it as sugar helps in fungal overgrowth. You can dip cotton bud in plain yogurt or curd and apply it to the affected area, 2-3 times day to get relief from itching.

Use a combination of apple cider vinegar and garlic to make a douche. Take one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and mix it with eight ounces of water. Then take one freshly peeled garlic clove and place it in the liquid. Garlic contains yeast-fighting enzymes that work quickly when applied topically. Let this concoction sit for at least half an hour then remove the garlic clove and use it as a douche. This procedure should occur twice a day and can be effective at getting rid of a yeast infection within 24 to 48 hours.

Modify your diet. The food that you eat can influence or trigger the occurrence of infection. If you have recurring infections, it is best to decrease sugar in your diet like those found in candies, chocolates and other sweetened foods. You also have to avoid fermented foods like cheese, vinegar, beer and wine.

Yeast has other enemies, such as garlic. Instant relief from yeast can be obtained by inserting a clove of garlic into the vagina every few hours. But, if this seems disgusting or unappealing, garlic tablets are effective, too. Taking one tablet a day can prevent or get rid of yeast problems.

Avoid scented products that can cause allergic reactions on your genital. Perfumes and other chemicals can upset the balance of Candida that can result to recurring yeast infection. In treating recurring yeast infections; it is important to avoid using scented toilet paper, powder, deodorant sprays and douches.

Another enemy of yeast is apple cider vinegar (unfiltered). Adding a cup (more or less) to your bath water helps to relax you, and attack yeast infection bacteria. However, bathing with apple cider vinegar is not as effective as ingesting garlic, or garlic suppositories. And, NO, you will not smell like a salad dressing!

Other products like oregano oil, olive leaf extract, tea tree oil can also be used for the similar purpose. However, one needs to carefully look at the ingredients before buying or using these products. One can even go for cold compress or cold baths to get relief from yeast infection itching. Boric acid and hydrogen peroxide are also recommended by some people to treat itching caused due to yeast infection.
