7 Organizing Tools From Rain Gutters To Slatwall

By:

Trying to de-clutter and organize your house without enough closets? Or cupboards? Or garage space? Frustrating, isn't it? I feel your pain, so I am going to share 7 ridiculously easy and inexpensive tricks to make your life easier!

Shoe Pocket Organizers
I love these things! But, I don't use them for shoes. My shoes are on my closet floor in a basket. I use shoe pocket organizers inside closet doors, and on the back of my bathroom door, to organize all kinds of things! I have one that is mostly crafty-type stuff in our coat closet. The lower pockets include things the kids are allowed to get into, like coloring supplies and glue sticks, and the higher pockets contain the more messy craft items like glitter glue. Use your imagination! And at Wal-mart, you can pick up a pretty good one for under $10.

Cupcake Tin
Metal cupcake pans can also be a good craft organizer. Put plastic cups in each hole, with a magnet on the bottom of the cup to hold it into the pan, and use it to organize everything from coloring supplies for the kids, to nails and screws in the garage.

Slatwall
Speaking of your garage, if you can get slatwall installed (you know, the stuff merchandisers use to display their products), then you can use it to hang bicycles, tools, garden hoses, even movable cabinets. And all without installing hooks that might damage the walls. You could even install some in your craft room. Think of the possibilities!

Tension Rods
Yep, you heard me, curtain rods. Hang one in your laundry area above the washer and dryer to hang up your delicates. Hang a small one in the cabinet under your sink to hang some of your cleaning supplies to make more space. Or even, hang one with a nice curtain in front of open shelving units to help hide your clutter.

Rain Gutters
Rain gutters? Really? Yep. On the exterior of your house, install rain gutters in rows to make a convenient and inexpensive herb or flower garden. Inside your house, you can install them in kids' playrooms to hold books and small toys. My neighbor uses this in her preschool for a bookshelf.

Magnet and Velcro Strips
Magnet strips can be installed on the backside of your bathroom cabinet door to hold all of those pesky bobby pins that are so easily lost. It can also hold tweezers and other small metal items. Velcro Strips can be used on your child's bedroom wall to hold stuffed animals and get them off of the floor.

Feel more organized and resourceful, yet? You should! Who knew rain gutters and slatwall could be so useful? Even if you only use a few of these tips, I promise you will reap the benefits of a more clutter-free home. Happy organizing!
