6 Tips To More Mlm Sales Using Emotion

By:

Believe it or not, the vast majority of people buy things based on emotion, not logic. Dont believe me? Think about ordinary, everyday thoughts or feelings. Which are strongest? It has to be emotion. The urges and impulses we feel almost always outweigh logic. Like eating healthy, we often forget about logic and go straight for the pizza and ice cream!

Most people buy things because of an urge or an impulse. If you are only appealing to your customers logic and want them to buy because reason says they should, youre missing out on a LOT of customers!

When I analyzed my reasons for joining my current MLM, I realized that it was emotion that had the strongest pull on me. A lot of other people were joining, including a lot of my friends and leaders that I know in the industry. I just felt a pull towards joining and I got excited! I would say logic played a very small role, maybe 20% or something, but I'm a science geek, I'm supposed to be analytical!

Here are just a few ways that you can appeal to your customers emotions:

1. Create scarcity. This principle has been around for a while and its pretty easy to do, especially if you have your own product. If you are recruiting for your MLM, advertise that if they join in the next 24 hours theyll get something free. You see, even people who are always analytical and logical still need an emotional bump to get them to buy. Scarcity can do that.

2. Create awareness before you make the product available. It can be very hard to create enough interest in your product through only one exposure. However, if you start sending out emails a week or so before you make it available, there is enough time to create enough buzz. Then people will be itching to get your product the second it becomes available.

3. Challenge people. Some people are so driven to success and want to achieve what is difficult for many others. If you issue some sort of challenge, youll be able to appeal to that side of them. Say something like, So and So was able to recruit 25 people in his first 6 months, can you beat that? or Check out these different levels of recognition you can reach! The people who try to outdo everyone else will be motivated by you challenging what they are capable of.

4. Use buzz words. There are a lot of these words that you can put in your promotions that create illogical emotions and help push people to buy. Just a few of these are discover, amazing, new, announcing, quickly, easily, you, stop, and free. I would get out a pen and paper and write down as many of these words that you can think of that will provoke peoples emotions.

5. Emphasize a team environment. Many people are driven towards wanting to feel a part of something. They might not join a company because it was the logical choice, but rather because they will be accepted and be able to work in close proximity with others. Especially if your company has very popular network marketers and they can get recognition for their achievements.

6. Tell your prospect that theyll be in a position to help others. A lot of people are driven by a need to help others. With these people, emphasize that with your product or company that theyll be able to teach others how to have success.

Notice that in none of these points I talk about the compensation plan. To be honest, the few times that Ive been actively searching for a new company, I was already sold on the company before I even looked at the comp plan.

Not everyone will be motivated by every one of the reasons above, but try to make a wide appeal to grab the attention of as many as possible. A little closing tip: if you can figure out what motivates the person youre trying to close, it becomes a LOT easier to sell to that person. Ask questions until you know enough about how to motivate that person.

Let's use some examples here:

What do you do? Their answer will probably tell you A LOT about their personality. Teachers are more nuturing and would probably appeal to being able to help others. Engineers are more analytical and would probably appeal more to the challenge and how they can have success.

How long have you been doing that? This will tell you their commitment level. If they've been in their job for 20 years then you probably know that they are the kind of person that won't give up and likes a challenge. If they say they've been in it a couple of months and just jump from job to job, then they are probably more of a social person and would like the team environment part of network marketing.

I hope this helps you in your product promotion. Remember, youre not hyping up your products because that is the fastest way to turn a prospect away, just create awareness.
