Relaxation is essential to recover from mental stress or burnout. The brain is not a machine. It needs rest to rebuild and rejuvenate. You're probably thinking, "How am I going to do that?" It's actually easier than most people think. Below you'll find some tips on how to relieve the stress you're feeling.

* Take a trip by yourself. It doesn't have to be a long trip, just for the day. Go someplace you like. A place that makes you feel relaxed and happy. Getting a change of scenery oftentimes can kickstart your rejuvenation.

* Get some sleep. Mental fatigue and burnout usually occur because of lack of sleep. The brain needs sleep in order to process and store information. If we didn't sleep we'd have to carry our brain around in a wheelbarrow. If you are having trouble sleeping because of anxiety try passionflower or valerian. Both herbs help with anxiety and sleep issues.

* Try meditating or self hypnosis. Both of these techniques are fantastic for relaxing the mind and the body. Giving yourself a since of peace and tranquility, even for a few minutes can lead to a rapid recovery from burnout.

* Get some exercise. Take a walk or play some tennis or squash. Moving your body helps to oxygenate and relax the brain. By keeping yourself more physically active you increase the endorphin production in the brain which aids in relaxing and rejuvenation.

* Try circular breathing exercises. All deep breathing activates the vagus nerve which leads to relaxation. Circular breathing helps to reset the bodies stress response. The technique is simple. Breathe in for a count of 4 and then immediately breathe out for a count of 4, continue this pattern for as long as you like.

* Eat an organic diet. Healthy foods can help reduce anxiety. So many additives and chemicals are allowed in most food. Many of these chemicals are known to cause anxiety. The scary part is, three quarters of the chemicals allowed in processed foods have not been extensively tested. Nor has the interactions of these various chemicals.
