6 Comfortable Spots In The Shade

By:

Everyone has their 'favourite little spot'. Their favourite little spot to eat, to walk, to drink, to go out, to dance, and their favourite little spot to relax and unwind. For as long as I can remember, my dad has taken weekend afternoon naps on the couch in our sunroom. There he can sprawl out and enjoy a little afternoon doze while the sun warms the room and him. Some other great spots for a rest are:

1. Porch swings:

Have you ever noticed how the homes in American films are always so big and cosy? They often have wrap-around porches with wooden swings. These are a great place to sit and rock back and forth while your mind wanders and you stare out at the neighbours.

2. Hammocks:

For some, collapsing into a hammock and letting it take your shape is a great way to relax. Being that hammocks are typically tied between two trees, they are usually well shaded which allows for uninterrupted relaxation.

3. Shaded couches:

Sometimes, usually around outdoor pool areas, you can find a nice fluffy couch in the shade. These are great places to go and take a little afternoon nap, or at the very least, get out of the sun for a while. With lots of cushions to cuddle with you are sure to enjoy a comfortable little snooze.

4. Basement beds:

When it's really hot, there are few places in a house that are cooler than the basement. If you have a couch or, better yet, a bed in your basement, then you might choose to take our midday rest there. You'll keep cool while the rest of the world is sweltering outside.

5. Pool houses:

Pool houses and cabanas are cosy little huts in which to store things and set up a bit of a chilling space. Keep things simple with a couple of couches, a few chairs and maybe a little radio, so that you can enjoy some tunes while you swim or hang out with friends.

6. Open concept living rooms:

Homes in warm climates are sometimes designed with sections completely open to the outside air. Perhaps the loo is outside, or one of the walls is open with blinds that can be dropped down to prevent rain from getting in. These rooms are ideal for lounging because you have all of the comforts of your home with the cool breeze of the outside world.

Everyone has their favourite little resting spot in the shade, where's yours?
