5 Ways To Work Best With Your Local Seo Firm

By:

I got the idea for this blog from a great article I read by Josh Sturgeon, a blogger with SEOmoz.com and an local SEO professional himself. Entitled, 5 Warning Signs of a Bad SEO Client, I decided to turn this around into a positive article about, naturally, what makes a good partnership between an SEO firm and its clientele.

According to Sturgeon, there are five warning signs of a poor partnership:

1.They name-drop books, blogs, and other Maps SEO related materials in nearly every conversation.
2.They insist on web design gimmicks that detract from the user experience.
3.They demand results on an unrealistic time table.
4.They protest your rates on the basis that there are, tons of Places SEO software options available on ClickBank for $97.00.
5.They ask for keyword research and then override your findings with their sense of what their firm should rank for.

Now, if we dissect each of these five warning signs carefully, we see that the majority of clientele behavior and attitude is rectifiable, explicable, and most importantly communicable. If we invert some of these poor practices into something better for not only the client, but for the SEO firm as well, we can alleviate a great deal of tension and misunderstanding so common in the know-it-all style of clientele. With a clarified vision of a better working relationship, both parties can move forward with the SEO process confidently, thereby creating a smooth, efficient, and pleasant experience for all involved.

Firstly, accessibility and content. Accessibility in this context means how easy it is for potential local customers to find your business. So much has changed with the way Googles search algorithms either local or national that its important to keep up. Dover says, Google is saying that over 20% of searches contain some sort of reference to locality, be it a city, state, or country, something like that. That is a big deal. Specifying ones location and service area on a site can be a crucial component in local SEO success.

Be sure that your content is updated constantly, consistently, and that it contains important terms or phrases relevant to your business. These are known as keywords in Googles lingo, and they dictate how the search engines results display on the SERP (short for search engine results page), among many other factors.
