5 Ways To Save Money For Independent Singles

By:

Single and working; you feel that sometimes you can have everything. You can buy whatever you want; go wherever you want. Party all night and drink or hang out with friends. Well, that's a great scenario for now. But what about 5 years or so later. Do you expect to look into your bank account and find nothing? Better start saving today so you won't regret your future. Here are some simple tips that you can do everyday to start saving money.

1. Watch your car's limit. If you own a car, make sure that you remember these tips. Slash your petrol bills by following these very simple tips. Minimise the weight that you put in your car. Cars tend to use up more fuel if it's carrying a heavier load. Stick to the speed limit and avoid abrupt changes in speed or sudden stops since that burns the fuel much quickly. When you go into unfamiliar territory then ask for directions. Getting lost will just get you frustrated and will just consume your fuel since you're just going around in the wrong directions.

2. Change your holiday plans. If your usual holiday plans include going abroad or going to the mountains, staying at hotels and luxury resorts; then now is the time to cut that. Instead of going on expensive trips try to go at local, affordable places which you'd also get to enjoy. Instead of going to a beach in the Carribean; why not a beach in your city? You can save thousands. If you wanted over nights, instead on hotels; then why not go trekking and camping? Camping is way more fun than spending your nights in hotels abroad. You can get to experience something new and at the same time you can discover the hidden beauties that your city has to offer.

3. Avoid throwing out stuff. If you have tons of stuff stored in your basement or closet; think twice before you throw them out. You can open a garage sale and then sell your stuff. Believe me people will buy it. The stuff which gets left behind after; you can give to charity. If you have gadgets which you don't use then you can try and cash them out. There are stores which would cash out old phones but depending on the make and model; and of course it has to be functional. The better phone and the newer it is; then you'll get a higher cash out. Look at the internet for sites which offer exchanges for old phones.

4. Start organising your finances. It's not just merely taking down the receipts or taking notes of your bills and such but organising them in a way in which you can effectively know on which part of your finances you tend to spend the most. If you see that you tend to spend most on shopping, buying gadgets or going out on vacations; then now is the time that you adjust your budget on these areas. Concentrate more on the areas in which you need to pay out first; like the bills and the mortgage. Next, you must learn to budget on your groceries and take control of your shopping expenses.

5. Control your urges. When you want to watch a movie, ask yourself: "do you really want to see it?". When you see those new shoes on the aisle, ask yourself: "do I need them?"; if not then walk away. Ask yourself if what you want is worth it? Is it an investment? Is it beneficial? if not then always control the urge to spend. You don't want to spend hundreds on something which turns out to be just a waste of money.

Being single, you may feel like you have no care in the world. That you can spend on what you want and get what you want. But really, it's not just all that. If you look at your bank or savings account 5 years from now and see that you haven't saved a cent; isn't that just disappointing? You have to think of the future and what's ahead of you.
