1. On page search engine optimization
When writing the content for your site be sure to do the proper keyword research. Your content should be informative, but make sure you have your keyword and keyword phrases in the article. Do not just stuff your article with your keywords. This is a big no no and will get you penalized or even worse banned from the search engine.

Use text links to navigate around your site and have those links on every page. This will help your rankings in the search engines. Do not use images because the search engine spiders cannot read images.

Make sure you have sitemap. By placing a formatted xml file with site map on your webserver, you enable Search Engine crawlers (like Google) to find out what pages are present and which have recently changed, and to crawl your site accordingly. 2. Submit your articles to article directories
By submitting your articles you are getting more exposure but you are also gaining one way links back to your site. When submitting articles there is a resource box. Another benefit is that other people can publish your article along with the resource box on their website. Now you are getting even more one way links which only raises your page rank and rankings in the search engine.

3. Bookmark your site on Social Networking sites
Web 2.0 is a great way for you to generate traffic. Social websites are all the rage now and they are not going away. A few social websites are digg, stumble upon, delicious and propeller. Just set up a free account and bookmark your site.

4. Create Videos
Search engines love videos. For example, if you sell software products you can make a video of how the software works. This will sell your product better because now your potential buyers can actually see how the software works. After you have uploaded the video to your site, submit your video to you tube, google video and other video sites. When submitting the videos, the tags you use are your keywords.

5. Join Online Forums
Join a forum in your niche. You can start new threads and answer questions of other members. If you give good solid information you will be trusted and respected in the forum. You will have the trust of other members who will pass that trust on to many other people. Be sure to have a link in your signature back to your site. You can also gain more traffic by members clicking on the link in your signature.
