5 Tips To Make Your Livonia Stamped Concrete Driveway The Talk Of The Town.

Stamped concrete is a very popular way to accent your Michigan house right now, and with good reason. This specialized technique, called stamped concrete allows plain, dull old concrete to look new and more interesting with much less maintenance involved. Any good Michigan based concrete contractor can simulate the look of stone, tile or brick using the right patterns to stamp the concrete. Typically, this process is done on driveways but now we can perform this stamping process on walkways, patios, pool decks anywhere there is concrete.

The stamped concrete process here in Michigan can also give that once tired looking landscaping a whole new look and feel. Below are 5 top looks for Michigan stamped concrete that we have done for clients over the years.

Tip One: Adding a Border to your concrete driveway or patio.

A very easy and inexpensive technique for stamped concrete driveways or patios is to add a border to your project using a separate pattern and color or a mix of the two. One attractive look is to use a basic brick stamped pattern down both sides of the driveway in a darker lets say red color. Now for the patio adding the same color border but make it in a "tile pattern" stamp.

Tip Two: Adding those little pebbles or "Exposed Aggregate" to your concrete project.

Exposed aggregate offers a totally different look to your concrete. This process uses water to expose the tiny pebbles and other materials in the concrete to create a textured, rough finish. When this process is combined with a stamped concrete border, you can get a look that your neighbors will surely come over and awe at. One note on this process is that the finished product be it a driveway or patio will not have a smooth texture like a normal concrete driveway has, so just be aware that walking with bare feet on this type of driveway you will notice the roughness more.

Tip Three: Now if you just want "The Basics" then this may work for you.

A lot of the stamped concrete designs we use will not be rough on bare feet and will give you that elegant look and feel you are after so you can find a look that will coordinate with the rest of your landscape. Choose from a round stone, a brick or tile finishes. You can also have a more subtle pattern that will simply add texture randomly all over the top of your concrete driveway or patio.

Tip Four: Adding decorative outside lighting to your concrete driveway or patio project.

Now that you have that awesome looking stamped concrete patio done it would be shame to only have it been seen during the day. Actually, incorporating lighting into the design of your project will add another look to your stamped concrete project at night. Incorporating different colors and levels will make your stamped concrete driveway or patio look totally different at night, so be sure to take that into consideration when planning out your next project.

Tip Five: Adding decorative stones, Trees and Shrubs.

Some people have incorporated large decorative stones into the design of their stamped concrete projects that give a very distinct look and feel. Some people opt to use a very simple stamped look and then accent that look with stones and even trees and shrubs. The ways to make it unique are as limitless as the stars in the sky; with the versatility of stamped concrete your ideas are limitless as well.
