5 Tips On Applying For The Job Of Graphic Designer

By:

Applying for the post of graphic designer seems to be easy, but considering the increasing competition, it might be really tough for you, to get a good job which shall satisfy you. Here are some helpful tips which shall help you to get the best job available.

*Spelling: This is one of the most neglected parts of any resume, especially when you are writing about your experience and past projects. So, do not miss out on the proofreading aspect of your resume.

*Resume Format: If you are a designer, you should never set your typeface in ARIAL. Arial might be a common choice as it is modern, legible and very clean, but it is also one of the default options and when you use it in your designs, it just shows how ignorant you are as a designer. So choose from all other options which are available.

*Include work links: This is what your interviewer shall look forward to in your resume. Give at least one link of your online work and do not forget to include work in small pieces in your portfolio, in a PDF format. You might have prepared a very good resume, but it shall still not convince your client, unless you have a good website portfolio.

*Portfolio content: Never make a mistake of filling up your portfolio with details about weak or not-so important projects. You should show at least 5 examples and mention your role in each of these projects. You need to explain things like if you designed the logo, or just inserted in the logo in the background or just applied the logo to a template. This is mostly about effective communication and how you are able to communicate it. The best option is to consider yourself in the position of your interviewer and think about what he might be looking forward to.

*Omit unwanted details: We tend to write a few details about our ambitions and what we expect in life and so on; you can omit all such details from your resume, especially when you are applying for a designer job. No one actually likes this in a resume. If you are called for the next round of interview, you will get a chance to speak about all such details; so why mention it in your resume anyway.

So, now that you know how to apply for the post of graphic designer, you just need to prepare your resume and apply to the right places to get a job of your choice.
