Don't get us wrong, we love
pubs more than anything in life; however, there are some certain things we can't stand which unfortunately seem to be coming more and more commonplace around Australian pubs.
We aren't sure whether it is a generational thing, or pubs a just losing touch with their traditional customers, but whatever the reason these issues need to be addressed. So below is our top 5 list of things we want pubs guilty of doing this to change immediately.
The Schmiddy: Honestly can we just fuck this marketing gimmick off, particularly if pubs are going to charge the same as a schooner for it. When it comes to pubs and beer, less is NOT more.
Not Showing The Footie: Whatever code you follow, there is nothing worse than strolling into your local pub with your mates to see some bullshit on the TV and not the sport. For whatever reason this is we are asking pubs to cease and desist doing this. Australia is a proud sporting nation, with sport coming second only to drinking. We can deal with the commentary off (unless it's a big game) but a pub without sport is like a bow without an arrow.
$4 Pool: For that matter, even $3 is a little expensive, but for fucks sake $4 for a game of pool. Perhaps they do this to keep people drinking but my god $4 is a little expensive for a game that costs absolutely nothing to run.
Dress Code: Rules like no thongs, no singlets and similar should be outlawed and pubs that persist should be burned down. No thongs or singlets??? Are you kidding? If we had it our way these would be compulsory.
A Limit on Drinks Per Round: How is this in anyone's interest? Pubs make less money and customers need to make 2 trips to the bar. Makes no sense and again should be illegal. If anything, customers should get discounts for buying in bulk.
