5 Major Things You Need To Put Your Business On The Internet

By:

People think it's easy to do business on the Internet. After all, look at all the sites!
Website ads abound every where you look: TV, Magazines, Billboards, Literature, Phonebooks, etc.

And, although there are virtually millions of websites in cyberspace, it is not too late to add YOURS. Do you want to sell something? Do you want to advertise your services? Do you want to provide valuable information for other people? Do you have some profound teaching, or do you want to offer training of some sort?

There are hundreds of reasons people want to be part of the Internet Revolution. But, what do you need to make it happen for YOU?

1. First of all, you need a domain name. A domain name is the address where you keep your Internet files and where people go to view them. It's often referred to as URL. It starts with http://www. Domain names are registered yearly for a low cost of approximately $12. You can register your URL for 10 years, if desired. But, once you let your domain name expire, your website will be blocked from public view and discarded until someone else re-registers it for a different website purpose.

2. Once you have a domain, you need hosting. A hosting account is where your files are stored online. There are thousands of hosting companies with various prices and services. My recommendation is to choose a hosting company with a user-friendly Control Panel and to create your website in the WordPress platform.

3. The next thing you need to do to get business on the Internet is to create content for your site. High quality content is a key factor for attracting visitors from search engines. The better the content, the more exposure you'll get. Many people refer a website to friends and social networks when the content is good enough to share. This creates "eyeballs" to your business and/or blog.

4. You will need links - because good quality links make your site known to the search engines and improve your rankings in the search engines. Backlinks are important to search engines because it shows other people think your content is important enough to link to it from their own sites. Rankings are given to websites by search engines to show surfers a site is popular.

5. And, most importantly, your site needs a way to turn the traffic you receive into money - to make the time and effort you put into building your site worthwhile. There are tools out there to help you do that. Researching keywords that people type into a search engine is a major way to determine how to advertise your site. Writing articles directing people to your website is a great way to let people know you're an expert at what you do.
