Starting off with No. 1 Luca Pacioli who is often referred to as the 'father of accounting'. In 1494 Pacioli described in detail the accounting system that was first used in Venice. His ideas and techniques are still used today.

2. Josiah Wedgwood. Otherwise known as the producer of fine ceramic ware, Wedgwood was the inventor of Cost Accounting. He created the system as he needed a way to track bottom line growth and profit. He was one of the only potters of his type to survive a depression, after using his system to determine the price of his pottery.

3. JP Morgan. Morgan began his career as an accountant but would become most famous for his pioneering work in the banking world. He bought companies that were in financial trouble and merged them with other companies to great acclaim. JP Morgan's work emphasizes how education in accountancy can help businesses guarantee the prosperity of their wealth and general financial success.

4. Walter Deimer. One of several accountants to make his fame doing something entirely unconnected to accounting. Walter Deimer was the creator of the first type of bubble gum.
