2. Donald Crone was the architect who came up with the design of the Sydney Tower in 1968. Early designs were said to have been scribbled on napkins, and were considered as an architects mad whim as other experts in the field of architecture believed that the design, and position of the tower was virtually impossible to erect. These doodles started to materialise in 1970 and became a reality on the completion and opening of the entire tower in 1981. Now Sydney Tower is home to one of the sought after sky walks in the world.

3. Engineering marvel. The Sydney Tower is made up of 46 prefab tubes which were put one on top the other and welded together. The tower head was hydraulically lifted as the turret grew in height. 56 steel cables stabilize the whole tower from weather and wind conditions. Such engineering ensures safety during the sky walk.

4. The tower has 420 windows, which are cleaned by a machine named Charlie", it takes 2 days for Charlie to clean all the windows using 50 litres of filtered and recycled water.

5. Sydney Tower has a lot of awards and commendations to its name. It is the tallest structure in Sydney and the second tallest in Australia. It is also classified as one of the safest buildings on the planet. The once ridiculed design is now a perfect sample of safety as it endures earthquakes and dangerous weather conditions. It has a shopping mall, two revolving restaurants, an observation deck, and a virtual reality theatre that provide visitors more than a sky walk experience. The spire functions as telecommunication transmitters and for purposes of navigation as well.
