5 Fashion Sins Men Commit With Shoes

By:

Shoes and footwear are some of the most practical pieces in mens fashion. They protect your feet from the elements and cushion your tootsies on long walks. In short, you cant go without them. But just because they are ubiquitous in every male wardrobe doesnt mean that every guy knows how to carry shoes properly. Check out the list below; the next fashion faux pas you see, and avert hopefully, might very well be yours.

Dont Go with Gym Socks
Gym socks are called that way for a very simple reason: they are meant to be worn in the gym. So unless you intend to clock in a few miles on your treadmill, its time to sack your underwear drawer for another pair of socks. Wearing gym socks with anything other than rubber shoes and in any other circumstance than the gym is plain wrong.

Formal shoes have formal socks. Casual shoes have low-cut socks or foot socks that are barely visible above the cut of the shoe. Regardless of the non-gym shoe variety you are getting, there is always an appropriate pair of non-gym socks for it.

Sandals Should Not Be with Socks
One of the most often violated rules of mens fashion, too many guys still insist on socks paired with their sandals. Its a no-no, regardless of where you are going or what you plan to do. Do you want to show your feet and give your toes a breath of fresh air? Wear just the sandals or better yet plain old flip flops. If you are going for cover and protection, wear shoes. Its that simple, so theres no reason for you to take the half-assed approach.

Slippers on Dry Land
Unless you are en route to a swim party, wearing slippers or flip-flops away from the pool or beach is a very grave fashion misstep. It is too casual for anything but beachwear, and even beach bums have been turning toward classier kicks of late.

Casual looks are most often the excuse of fashion victims who commit this sin. Slippers, however, are not necessary, even when you are trying to create the most casual look you can make. Casual shoes are a whole other department at footwear retailers, so you may as well make the most of the classification and get from that area.

Formal Sneakers?
That is an oxymoron right there for the simple reason that there is no way sneakers could become a legitimate component of mens formal wardrobes. Although some celebs (most notably Justin Timberlake) wear sneakers to so many formal events, those fetes usually have a creative black tie dress code. Sans the creativity, sneakers would have been very boring and boorish choice for completing any formal look you might have.

Square Toes Stink
No, theres nothi ing going on with your toes although your square-toed pairs should be given official eviction notices from your wardrobe. Strong, squared shoes were a very big hit many years ago in mens fashion. Like human evolution, however, the industry has grown well beyond its previous misjudgments.

If you are looking for leather shoes to wear with your outfit, go with a more classics outlook and find yourself a pair of regular old taper-toe or wingtip shoes. Rubber shoes are also a good alternative, especially if you will be doing physical activity that day.

Remember, fashion is all about traditions and how you stick to one that suits you best. All too often, the problem with men and fashion comes from guys wanting to do too much in just a single look.
