What better way to celebrate a 50th birthday then a 1950's themed birthday party Start with the invitations making certain to let the guests know that it will be a 1950s themed party.Ask them to come dressed like teenagers did in the 1950s. This can be poodle skirts, bobbie socks, saddle shoes, blue jeans with cuffs and a white t-shirt, ponytails or anything else they can think of. Play music from the1950s and have fabulous fifties food. Serve cola and chips, pigs-in-a-blanket, crackers with spray cheese, deviled eggs, a fruit salad made with melon balls. Put posters of celebrities from the fifties on the walls and have fun.

A good way to have your 50th birthday party is to do a "Stroll Down Memory Lane" theme. Gather photos from the life of the guest of honor. Ask friends and family to give you copies of photos they may have of the birthday honoree as a baby, child, teenager, young adult and any recent photos. Make several copies of each photo, Put some in frames and set them around the room as decorations, put one copy of each in a scrapbook to give to the guest of honor.

Try a Bucket List birthday party theme for a 50th birthday party. Start by asking other people to help you come up with the bucket list of things the guest of honor should do before they…well you know…kick the bucket. But don't stop with just coming up with a list, pick several things on the list and make them happen. You could give them tickets to things they have never done before like going to a play, a sporting event, or a day at the spa. Ask friends and family what the guest of honor is always saying they would like to do and make it happen. You never know it could be as simple as going to a favorite restaurant. As a party favor for the special guest you can print out and frame the bucket list.

A really fun 50th birthday party theme is a "50 items that old people need" party. Doing this doesn't have to be expensive, especially if you go to dollar stores and discount stores. Like the plastic container that dentures are place in at night, a giant bottle of vitamins, a cane, reading glasses, etc… Gather these gag gifts and watch the fun as they are opened. Remember to get at least one really nice gift to end the party with.

50 and Fantastic makes a wonderful birthday party theme for a 50th birthday party. Have all the guests come prepared with one thing that is "fantastic" about the guest of honor. Before the party make sure your have printed out and hung on the walls your "fantastic "list. During the party read out the printed signs and the ones the guests bought with them.
