4 Tips For Choosing Promotional Materials

By:

Purpose
It may sound self explanatory, but the underlying purpose one is considering promotional materials for should be the predominant guiding factor in deciding what type of printed materials should be sourced. One may have a general idea of purpose like "attracting customers", but it is worth writing down and working out specific, clear and detailed purposes, before considering what type of promotional materials are best suited.

Issues With Using Different Materials
Posters for rock concerts or nightclub events on busy highways can be successful in notifying a large number of people, cost effectively, in a short timeframe. It does away with the need for someone to stand in a busy area and hand out flyers for hours, if this printing option had been chosen. While someone does need to go and put the posters up initially, just a few posters may reach a great many people. In comparison, flyers may need to be handed out en masse to try and reach a similar number of people.

Of course, if flyers are better targeted (say, by being handed out at other rock concerts or nightclub events in the above example) then the potential effectiveness of the promotion is greatly increased. In some areas there may be restrictions on where posters can be placed, so this could cause some issues with the poster option. One needs to fully consider the different types of printing materials to be used, and exactly how these will fit in with a company"s promotional strategy.

Subtle Versus Direct
Calenders are a nice way of promoting a business without it seeming pushy. Calenders serve a productive purpose separate from reminding a client or potential client of one"s company, but the subtle reminder is there each time someone looks at the calender, and the brand is reinforced in potential clients" minds.

Strategic Approach
A business, of course, does not need to limit themselves to just one type of printed promotional material. If carefully planned, different materials can complement each other, and can also assist in reaching customers where a different type of promotional material might not. For example, a business card might be effective in a face to face business situation, but a flyer may be more effective for a letter box drop, where a business card could easily become lost. Different solutions from a printed material product mix can be tailored to varying situations.

Printing services such as brochure printing provide promotional materials that can become powerful tools to attract customers to a particular business. Exactly how a business decides on promoting their business will come down to internal strategy. Combining this with the guidelines above should assist in maximising effective engagement with targeted clients and customers.
