4 Signs Of A Money Wasting Diet Plan

By:

The weight loss industry is humongous. People spend billions of dollars annually on weight loss programs, exercise equipment, healthy eating cookbooks and risky surgeries. Fad diets are another proliferation which feed big bucks into the industry. Pay attention to these warning signs and do not become the next victim of a fad diet. You work too hard for your money and do not need to waste it on diet plans which over promise and under deliver.

1. Fast Results Claims
Promises, promises. Many people are lazy and respond to quickie solutions. Marketers of diet plans play on this human emotion. If a diet plan claims to result in a lot of lost pounds in only a few days or weeks, it is probably false hope. Unless you are living on the biggest loser ranch, realistic weight loss is about one pound per week.

2. Short Menu
Be suspicious of diets that eliminate certain foods, ingredients and have you concentrate on eating only a few types of foods. Not only will you get sick and tired of eating the same types of things over and over but you will be at risk of becoming deficient in certain nutritional areas. Reasonable diet plans allow for moderation of your favorite treats; so you can enjoy a small taste of chocolate now and then and not feel guilty.

3. Special Pills, Herbs, Powders
A good marketer convinces you to buy things that you normally would not; they are expert at separating you from your money by creating an emotional response. Fad diets are no different. After you buy their book they have you shell out more money for supplements, laxatives or diuretics, all with the promise of accelerating your metabolism, fat burning or block absorption of carbs. There is little if any scientific research to support these types of claims.

4. No Exercise
Perhaps the biggest laugher of all fad diets is that exercise is not an integral part of the plan. Again, this plays on the lazy mentality of some people. Weight loss is all math. Burn more calories than you ingest. You cannot increase calorie burn without some exercise, even if you just walk around your neighborhood at a brisk pace for 20 minutes several times per week.

Money wasting diet plans can be replaced with your own, simple routines of eating less, eating healthier and exercising more. Without your health, you have nothing. You owe it to yourself, your kids and family to lead a healthy lifestyle, but when it comes to fad diets, do not believe the hype.
