These are questions that I wish someone had asked me when I first started looking into internet marketing and creating an online business for myself. If I had answered or got these questions answered, it would certainly have saved me a lot of time, effort and money... pursuing strategies and business models that were never going to work...

1. Are you willing to carve out at least 15 hours a week from your current schedule to invest in this business?
A successful online business is an absolutely fabulous tool to provide the income and time freedom that those of us who are attracted to this type of opportunity are looking to achieve. But, it is exactly that, it's a business. It needs work and it needs input. It needs products, marketing, administration and financial management just like any other business. A competent Internet Marketer can earn much more than many lawyers, doctors and accountants, but this can only happen if you put the time and effort in to learn the necessary skills to become successful. Despite all the hype and overrated claims of incomes of thousands overnight, you have got to be willing to serve your apprenticeship in Internet Marketing. If you're looking for a 'get rich quick' scheme, it's simply not going to happen...So why 15 hours...well everyone's situation is different, but many people who decide to turn to the Internet are currently working in another job or have another business.

When I started in this business, I was a full time business coach and coaching and mentoring business owners and their teams. I wanted to transition to an online business, while still maintaining an income and meeting my financial commitments from my coaching business. Many of you will be in similar situations with either a job or a business. As you start to generate income from your Internet business, you should be able to reduce the hours you invest in your current job or business, and concentrate more on your online opportunity. But let's be straight, 15 hours to start with is in my opinion the minimum required to start gaining momentum. Down the line, when you do transition to becoming a full-time marketer, you can leverage yourself really well in this business. You can then reap the benefits of having done the work to set up a business that will generate passive income but to get there requires learning, work, discipline and a real desire to reap the rewards that an online business can bring. So that's the first question that I feel that you need to answer before making a decision to become an Internet Marketer.

2. Have you found yourself the right mentor?
Coming from a coaching background, I really understand the benefits and the power of having a mentor. Tony Robbins talks about the quickest way of achieving a goal is to use a process that he calls 'modelling', which in simple terms is learning from someone who has achieved exactly what you're trying to achieve. They've made the mistakes, so they can show you how to avoid those time consuming and costly setbacks. So on one of my first attempts to get into Internet marketing, I found a mentor, but I didn't find the 'right' mentor for me. I invested in a year's mentoring with a very successful guy who has a fairly high profile in the Internet marketing world. Nice man...However, his view and my view of mentoring differed. He wanted to conduct all training and communication via email, and to cut a long story short, it simply didn't work...as a person starting off in a new business, learning new skills...sometimes, you just needed to speak with someone.

My second attempt at finding a mentor was much more successful...because I knew what I was looking for and also knew that I couldn't afford to make another expensive mistake...Finding the right mentor is really what has helped me to really succeed in my online business...so make sure you find someone who you can trust, feel you can talk to, someone you feel has the access to the training that you need in the format that you need, and someone who really does know what it's like to be in your shoes and really wants to help you succeed.

3. Will the opportunity/course that you're thinking of buying into provide you with the most up-to-date and relevant marketing training?
Like I said at the beginning, this is a business. Marketing is the life blood of every business...online or offline, you have to be able to attract prospects to your business and more importantly attract the prospects that want what you have to offer. If you decide to become an Internet Marketer, you have got to learn to market. There are a lot of courses and opportunities out there right now that are using marketing techniques that simply don't work anymore. In business right now, there is one constant, one thing that we can actually depend on - that is - everything is constantly changing. What worked last year, doesn't work this year. Sometimes, what worked last month doesn't work this month...make sure that you find out about the opportunity that you're thinking of getting into and exactly how much they are investing in knowing where and how to market for the time that we currently live in.

I was lucky enough to become involved with a leading marketing system that ensures that I know which marketing strategies are currently working and those that aren't reaping results right now...and I can provide access to this information in the form of videos, conference calls and webinars to my own team members. Find out about this, because it really is a huge factor in your probability of success online.

4. Does the opportunity that you're thinking of getting involved with include the opportunity to sell high ticket products?
When I first started researching into Internet Marketing, I realised very quickly that if I wanted to replace the income from my current business as quickly as possible, it was going to take a really long time if I was depending solely on the revenues of $50 or $100 from affiliate sales. I knew that I needed to also sell high ticket items, that is products that reaped commissions of $1000 or $2000. So, before you decide to go with the opportunity or the course that you may be currently looking at, find out if you're going to be able to sell high ticket items...you need to ensure that the opportunity will provide the vehicle for a long term sustainable business selling high ticket items.

So that's it...I hope that if you're at the stage of researching or deciding whether to get into Internet marketing, that this video has given you some 'food for thought' and hopefully brought up some points that you may not have thought of before and now you realise that you've some questions that you need to get answered.
