Paintball as a Sport, Not Warfare

Often, the sport of paintball is criticized as advocating violence. It is true that many paintball guns reflect that of a wartime situation or scenario. Most people who play, however, enjoy the sport for the pleasure of working cooperatively as a team to achieve a goal rather than the thrill of the hunt. The benefits of any sport apply to paintball; namely, physical exercise, teamwork, practice, developing strategies, and working towards a goal. The thing to remember about paintball is that it is not about a bunch of teenagers randomly running around and shooting each other. It is about using your own abilities, the abilities of your teammates, and your understanding of your surroundings to achieve success.

Preparing for War or Just Having Fun?

Often, the sport of paintball is criticized as advocating violence. Undeniably, paintball is meant in some ways to simulate war. Most people who play, however, enjoy the sport for the pleasure of working cooperatively as a team to achieve a goal rather than the thrill of the hunt. Just like any other competitive sport, paintball athletes will train for competitions, plan out strategies, and study their opponents in order to gain victory. In the end, paintball is not about trying to shoot other people. It is about using your own abilities, the abilities of your teammates, and your understanding of your surroundings to achieve success.

Laser Tag versus Paintball

When thinking of team action, guns, and strategic warfare, one often thinks of either laser tag or paintball. Each of these sports has leagues and pro players. These players have a both a competitive rivalry against each other and also a great understanding of one another's sport. Laser tag is extremely fast-paced and takes place within a very small playing field. Laser tag is also associated with smoke machines, strobe lights, and futuristic playing turfs. This is very different from the fields and forests upon which paintball is usually played. It is often viewed as a more realistic warfare-type game by the fact that you are actually shooting something at someone. In fact, the military even sees the value of paintball as a training and practice forum. Whereas laser tag has high-intensity rapid firing and heavy music, paintballing can be stealthy, quiet, and intense.

Smart Clothes for Paintball

There are some recommendations you may want to consider when it comes to clothing at a paintball game. If you want to make sure you do not end up getting bruised, wear pants and a long-sleeved shirt. If you want to be covert, wear dark clothing or clothing that blends into the scenery. Obviously, you do not want to wear nice clothes to the game, since they will inevitably get paint and dirt on them. Finally, comfort is a key factor. You will not have a great time at the game if your clothing is too tight, inadequate for the weather, or otherwise unsuitable for running around.
