4 Important Guidelines On The Use Of Home Remedies For Hemorrhoids

By:

The population of people suffering from hemorrhoids in the United States stands about 10 million and the number of the sufferers that are opting for simple hemorrhoid home cures are increasing day by day.

However according to the FDA which is the federal drug and medication control body in the US, there are certain guidelines which you must follow to make use of these cures successfully:

1-According to the FDA you should not use home remedies for more than 7 days if you do not experience any appreciable symptom relief, hemorrhoid cases that require home treatment for more than 7 days before experiencing appreciable symptom relief need to be attended to by a physician.

2-The FDA also recommends that hemorrhoid medication approved for external use should not be used for internal application. Hemorrhoid creams and ointments that are intended for the relief of external hemorrhoid symptoms should not be placed into the rectum with the use of mechanical devices or applicators.

It is however advisable to use the small tubular tips or dispensing caps that are packaged with these creams and ointments, these caps are usually short and they can be easily screwed unto the top of the ointment or cream and they apply their ingredients only unto the lower portion of the anal canal.

This guideline is very important because if long applicators are used to apply these creams and ointments, they will be applied to the upper anal canal beyond the dentate line to cause serious potential problems.

These ingredients will be rapidly absorbed in very large quantities by the highly transparent and thin lining of the mucosa of the upper anal canal and rectum and once this large quantity of ingredients is absorbed via this route, most of the absorbed ingredients and drugs by pass metabolism in the liver leading to accumulation of toxic forms of the ingredients in the body.

So you should not use hemorrhoid creams meant for external application to treat internal hemorrhoid symptoms.

3-You should remove the foil covering a pile suppository before you use it, if you want to use medicated pads ,you should pad your inflamed butt gently to apply the contents to reduce further irritation.

4-The FDA also advises that pile treatments that are designed for systemic absorption or topical agents that might be absorbed systemically should be used with caution in pregnant women, products that act only locally on the pile tissues can however be used freely on the butt of pregnant women with piles.

According to these guidelines the ideal home treatment for hemorrhoids should work fast and it should make use of purely natural methods without the fear of serious side effects.
