Step inside any of the household appliance stores here in the UK and youll no doubt be faced with a wide range of oversized TV sets that are laid out to entice you to buy one then and there. This would be nice if we had recently won the lottery or had a large sum of money burning a hole in our pocket but for most people buying a new TV set will be out of necessity such as replacing an old TV or buying one for a new house.

Obviously with any new technology there will be an increased cost associated compared to older models, there are plenty of 3D TV sets available at comparable prices to other non-3D Plasma or LCD TVs and still give you the many benefits including high definition image quality. 3D TVs dont always have to show programmes and films in 3D so people wont have to wear these glasses every time they want to watch the TV so they function perfectly well as a regular 2D TV as well.

The qualities that make it a 3D TV can even help make 2D images look better as they have a better refresh rate. This refresh rate refers to how quickly the image on the screen is updated and in order to show the left eye image and right eye image naturally your TV needs to be quick enough to alternate these images quick enough to trick your eyes.

With such a quick refresh rate this will mean that standard images are shown much smoother, even with fast paced images from sports or movies it means you wont get blurring or a loss of detail. So 3D TVs being so prominent in the shops and numerous offers being made if you buy one of these over any other TV types then it may prove to be cost effective to look at 3D televisions when you are in the market for a new TV.
