3 Ways You Can Become A Better Darts Player

By:

Darts is a great sport to play because all you need to get started is a set of darts and a dartboard. However it's a lot harder to become a really good darts player, ie someone who regularly averages somewhere between 70 and 90 on a regular basis. If you do have aspirations to become a decent player then there are three main ways you can improve your game.

The first is to concentrate on developing a good throwing action. There is no such thing as a perfect throwing action, and you will generally find that all the top professionals have slightly different throwing actions. However you should develop a throwing action that has a smooth rhythm and is totally consistent. There should be no body movements at all. The only part of your body that should move is your throwing arm.

If you want advice on how to get a decent throwing action, I would suggest that you go to a few darts exhibitions in your local area. That way you will get the chance to play a top professional player and you can ask them for advice on your throwing style, and find out how it could be improved.

The second way you can improve your game is simply by practicing for at least one or two hours per day. You will be amazed at how fast you can improve by practicing on a regular basis, and you can do this very easily if you have your own dartboard at home.

The key is to vary your practice sessions so that you don't simply throw at the treble 20 or the treble 19 all the time. You should practice your singles and doubles as well which involves going around the board from 1-20. It's also a good idea to practice your finishes as well. For example something I like to do is to aim to check out 100 in 6 darts or less, then once I've done that I will move up to 110, 120, 130, 140, etc. and see how high I can go.

The final way you can become a better darts player is to start playing for your local darts team. It's all well and good playing on your practice board at home, but you need to experience competitive darts as well where you are playing other players who are as good as, if not better than you. By playing decent players on a regular basis, your game will almost certainly improve.

So to sum up, if you want to become a better darts player, you should concentrate on developing a smooth throwing action, practice as much as you can at home, and start playing competitive darts whenever possible.
