3 Tips To Avoid Life Dangers

By:

Whether you are aware of it or not, danger lurks around every corner of your home, business, and neighborhood. I'm not necessarily talking about menacing thugs, or the odd hold-up at the bank. I'm talking about the unseen risks you take getting dressed, sleeping, and even taking a shower. Life's a killer, and here are some easy was to avoid accidental death while going about your day-to-day duties.

Getting dressed in the morning is the sleeper agent of the world of accidents. Sure, you may think putting a shirt on appears not even remotely harmful to yourself or others (unless it's a really terrible shirt), but you have thought wrong. There are more accidents in the world that involve zippers than chainsaws. The harsh reality is - when putting on your pants; you could fall over, hit your head on a table, and die. More than 11,000 accidents occur in Great Britain every year involving socks or tights, and footwear injuries account for eight times the number of accidents as those in which machinery played a nefarious role. Most likely, you'll transfer from your bedroom to the boardroom unscathed, but to just to be safe, make sure you get dressed with the lights on, keep dirty laundry in one location, and put your pants on sitting down.
Sleepwalking is often characterized as something spooky and other worldly, but is often common in children and adults with higher than normal stress levels. Because you are asleep, those who suffer from somnambulism (sleepwalking) don't know what they are doing and can't remember what happened during their sleepwalking episodes. It is possible for sleepwalkers to injure themselves, or others, in their sleep. It is wise to keep all sharp objects away from your bedside if you are a confirmed sleepwalker, and to lock your doors and windows every evening. You may try to reduce your stress level through meditation or aromatherapy. You may place an alarm on your bedroom door to alert others you are sleepwalking at night, but if your nightly strolls are becoming problematic or detrimental to your waking life, you should see a doctor who can prescribe medication, if needed.
Eating commercially canned food is also dangerous. Botulism is the world's deadliest naturally occurring nerve toxin, and can appear in foods canned in your home or from the grocer. Outbreaks of botulism occur worldwide, and year-round. The bacteria that cause botulism can also grow in the intestines of children under one year old, and is present in honey. It is wise to avoid given young children honey as a sweetener, and if canning at home, to ensure all foods are heated to at least 185 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes. If you are eating commercially prepared canned food, avoid those that look swollen.

While it isn't wise to live your life as if there is fear around every corner, taking some precautions around the house can add years to your life and prevent injuries. It is always smart to safe-guard your homes when a new child or pet enters your family and many items that can help prevent household accidents are easily purchased at your local big box retailer. A freak accident is unlikely to come your way, but now you are prepared in case you are encountered with the unexpected.
