3 Timeless Trends In Interior Designing

By:

The world of interior designing is very much similar to that of the world of fashion. Just like fashion trends of the old make a comeback even today and may be termed as retro or timeless, there are trends in interior design that are popular not matter the year. These trends in interior decor have managed to stay in fashion years after they were innovated and have now come to blend in with the ever changing world of interior decor.

*Wood: A timeless classic, wood in any form or application is still popular in interior decor. A wooden door or wooden flooring looks as good, if not better as it did in the early years. In fact, today, wood flooring has received more popularity and is pretty expensive. Installing mahogany or oak hardwood flooring can cost you a small fortune. Wood is perceived as a timeless classic because of its timeless nature. Hardwood flooring can last a very long time and is very easy to maintain as compared to other forms of flooring. Wood artifacts in your room, give it a sophisticated look and a warm and homey feeling. Installing it doesn't take too much time and it can even be installed without the help of a contractor.

*Simplicity: Keeping it simple has been the motto for interior designers over the years. No matter what the age and time, simplicity has always been constant. The 80's for example, brought in various innovations not only in interior decor but for everything else. Even then, many interior designers stressed on the importance of lack of clutter in your room. Many suggested how a room tends to look bigger if you don't clutter it with 'arty' pieces which may look good, but not if they're overdone. A simple example of this is the trend of big windows coming back into fashion!

*Recycling: This particular trend in interior design is more recent but nonetheless popular given the 'go green' philosophy popular today. Using old materials and recycling them to form something new is what many people opt for. It only is more ecologically friendly but economically as well! Clients save a huge amount of money forging antique shops for old artifacts and materials, and get them worked over by a restoration expert. It's clean, green and cheap!

These trends are a win-win for the interior designer and the client. They do not ask for something exorbitant or out of the budget. Just simplicity!
