3 Things You Can Do Right Now To Improve Your Hotspot

By:

This is what you want to do right away to improve your hotspot and attract more customers. Its simple, cost effective and will improve the chances of your products being sold in YOUR store.

In the previous blogs, I have been discussing why you need a hotspot for your business, here are the three things to improve your hotspot.

1. Make it free even when its not!

What do I mean by this? It simply means, if a customer purchases a product from your store, why not offer them a free wireless session. Many businesses have closed hotspots which require a user name and passwords to log in.
How would this work? Simply by adding a serial number on the bottom of the docket at the time of purchase promoting the wireless hotspot. The serial number would be logged into a database and when the customer logs into your hotspot uses that serial.

For example, it would look something like this Congratulations, you have receiving 20 minutes worth of free wireless internet surfing time. Log onto the network to retrieve your free gift.

2. Make it fast

We all hate slow internet, and no customer is going to stay at your store to surf the net on a slow connection. What will frustrate a customer even more is when theyre the only person in the store and the connection is still slow. The latest brand of wireless technology allows for speeds 5 times faster than technology released 2 to 3 years ago.
Its in your best interest to upgrade your hardware as over the coming months, Smartphones are becoming more popular both technologically and socially and every person will have access to one. With the Telcos either struggling to catch up or charging excessive amounts to use cellular networks, people will turn to small business for cheap affordable internet access.

For example, John cellular network is fast but expensive. Your hotspot is cheap and fast. John is willing to pay for 1 hour session where he can download and surf the net and save his cellular limit for when he is not in a store. John is attracted to YOUR hotspot as it is FAST and RELIABLE.

3. Actively promote your hotspot online through social networks

Is your business online? Does it have a following? Well it should. We live in an information age where people love to know what is going on. Attract people to your business and entice them to use YOUR wireless network.

This is NOT a big project. The simplest approach is FREE. Its called social networking or Micro blogging on TWITTER. Use Twitter to send tweets (small messages) to tell your customers when sales, discounts or free gifts are available. Free advertising is a great way to start off your hotspot.

For Example, John is a frequent twitter user. He uses it to catch up with friends and find out what is going on in his area. He observes a tweet from your business about free internet when they purchase over $3 at YOUR store. He attends your store a few days later, purchases a product and uses the voucher to use your hotspot. On logging into your hotspot he is exposed to your advertising online and purchases a product from your online store which may not be available in your store.

I want to share more ideas over the coming weeks with you as I think its important that all businesses get onboard and take advantage of this emerging technology. Smartphones and wireless technology have a LOT of potential and can be used as another form of revenue for your business.
