When you are a dog a crate can be his special place for him that is safe and secure when he wants to go to that is inside your home. Some people think that crate training is cruel to the dog but it is not as long it is not done in an abusive manner for example, leaving him to long in it. The fact is that there is advantages to training your dog with a crate and the benefits will be for the both of you. So incorporate it in your regular dog training program.
When you start your crate training you might find that some dogs might be a little leery of this big cage in your home. And some dogs might take to it right away with no problems. The biggest thing that you can take to ensure your success is not to force your dog into the crate. Make it an enjoyable experience for him so that he will want to go in on his own to sleep and to get away from things.
A few Little Tactics To Introducing Your Dog To The Crate
When You have the new crate you will need to is have your dog get acquainted to the dog crate. Put it in a room and the spot that you want it in but away from the heavy traffic lanes. Now take your dog and play with him in that area around the crate and place some toys around and also give a few dogie treats to him. Do This for a few days so he gets use to the cage.
How Do I Get My Dog Into To This Thing?
First thing you want is to have your dog go into it by himself. The way to do this is to bribe him with his toys and by his favorite treats. Just put the objects just into the door part so when he puts his head in he won't get scared. Keep doing this exercise for a few days and by putting the toys or treats a little father each day. Also put in d dog bed in it just in case he wants to take a nap.
Getting Your Dog To Stay in the Crate
Keep doing the above steps while getting your dog use to being in the crate for longer periods of time. When he feels good about using his new area then close the door but don't lock it. Let him be able to get out on his own if he wishes to.
It will come a time when he will feel very comfortable being in his crate. but if you lock the door just make sure there is plenty of water for him
