Surgical Technicians are those trained individuals who are in the support staff of a senior surgeon, mostly during the surgical operations and procedures. These technicians are normally trained at junior technology colleges and technology schools, but most of their training is done in operation theatres where they grasp the basics under the supervision of a surgeon or a senior member.

3.The third major duty of a technician is being "Assistant Technician". Such a duty means assisting the surgeon or doctor while the latter is carrying out necessary routines. This translates to actually holding instruments as directed by the doctor such as clamping a vein or tissue stitching. This is considered to be the highest post of a technician and requires several years of experience.
