3 Ideas To Get Everyone Together For The Pta Meeting

By:

Parent Teacher Association (PTA) groups remain popular in many school districts but their influence has declined as parents and teachers have less and less time to become involved. To be sure, many parents still play an important role in planning programs for their children but in a world where both parents often have to work long hours, this is increasingly challenging for many individuals.

Yet, the reality is that with a few adjustments to your schedule you can commit to more. And to make things even simpler, there are many technologies, conferencing and otherwise, that can assist you if you find that it is just impossible for everyone to get together at once. Either way though, there is a way to get everyone together for the PTA meeting, it just may not be the way your parents used to do it.

Plan the PTA Meeting on a Weekend

One way to get more parents together for PTA meetings is to do them on Saturday mornings. This may seem like a bit of intrusion at first glance but it really is not any more so than having them at dinnertime or later in the evening. You could even incorporate a breakfast or brunch into the meeting and make it more fun.

You may find that it really is not that bad after all, and it only has to be done once in a while anyway. So why not relieve some weekday stress and turn some of the burden into something fun you can do on the weekend once a month?

Have Multiple Meetings with Different Groups Attending to Different Tasks

Another way to improve the process of putting together PTA meetings is to plan more than one meeting and plan them at different times and even on different days of the week. Each meeting could be the focus of a specific subject and those parents and teachers in charge of whatever activities are involved with that specific subject or issue. While this may not work for all schools, it is a useful idea for some, particularly larger ones in which there are many parents and teachers involved.

Plan a Conference Call PTA Meeting

If all else fails, or if you just want the most flexibility possible when it comes to planning your meetings, you could choose to hold the meetings through a conference call. You may be wondering about such things as expense and ease of use but the fact is that many conference calling programs provide free conferencing calling and not very complicated.

Conference calling technology gives you so many more options when it comes to your personal and professional life because you can get together with others without even having to leave the comfort of your own home. This is true for both free conferencing and toll-free conferencing services. PTA conference calls can be held when everyone has the time so that you can get those most out of your meetings and provide the most benefits to the children as possible.

It is surely not easy battling all of life's demands, for most of us anyway, but there are ways to reduce stress when it comes to your responsibilities regarding the PTA. Being such an important responsibility it is one that you want to make as least stressful as possible so that you can be as productive as you need to be.

This means having the most people involved that is feasible and without intruding too much into other people's schedules. Making changes such as alternative scheduling and conferencing will give you, and the other parents and teachers, a better way to achieve those goals.
