3 Client Misconceptions About Graphic Designing That You May Have To Face

By:

During your career as a graphic designer, there will be times when you will find it difficult to convince your client about your design. You will find that many clients have several misconceptions, which are at times very difficult to overcome. Here are 3 common misconceptions which you might be required to handle.

1.Design looks different - Many clients complain that a specific design looks different on their screen. It can also happen that you have put in a specific color, as per the request of your client, but when your client sees it, he does not feel happy with it and starts to believe that the design looks different. He might be looking for something else and the final design doesn't make him happy, for which you cannot probably do much. Misconceptions are mostly related to the matching of color setting, contrast, brightness, which the client usually feels are not matching his requirements.

2.Use of Images - Your client can be very fussy about using images in the design. He might be confused about the sourcing of the images - such as from where to use the images. Should the images be used from the website or should they use an online site for images? Some clients have misconceptions about the payment for the source of images and are quite fussy about the resolution of images as well They believe that an image which has a resolution of 72 dots per inch or less might not be suitable for use. They might request you to use their own specified size of image, which you may feel is not suitable for the project.

3.Cost - This is one of those specific areas which all clients have some kind of misconceptions. Very few clients will believe that what you have charged for a particular design is affordable. They will also tell you that they can find similar quality work or work which is much better in quality somewhere else. They believe that the cost is too much for the same work done by someone else. You might be asked "why are you charging so much for this work"? Respond by showing how your designs are unique and not the same thing everybody else is churning out. Also you have to keep your cool while handling such delicate questions from your clients.

These are among the most common misconceptions which you might have to battle while dealing with your clients. It is better to be prepared for such questions, rather than getting baffled by such things later on.
