3 Cities With Great Climates Year Round

If the world is your oyster and you are able to choose where you live, make sure to take the weather into consideration as you line up the pros and cons. While climatic ups and downs and harsh conditions are a fact of life in some parts of the country, some areas just seem to have it made when it comes to great weather. The Farmers Almanac has been gathering US climate data and making weather predictions since 1818. Its prescription for great weather notes that maximum temperatures should range between 68-79 degrees, winters should be mild, with little or no snowfall, less than one day a week with rain, and winds should not exceed 10 mph. Although the following 3 cities may not meet all of those requirements, they are certainly contenders for picture perfect weather, year round.

El Paso, TX - Also known as Sun City, El Paso boasts four mild seasons and an average of 302 days of sunshine per year. Its high desert setting in the shadow of the breathtaking Franklin Mountains, prevent the extreme summer temperatures that other TX cities experience. El Paso enjoys a longer growing season, although it is typically a dry one. Humidity-free, sunny, dry days are what residents can count on and during the winter months of December and January, the thermometer usually stays between 33 degrees for the low and 57 F for the daily high. El Pasos yearly average temperature is a pleasant 77 degrees, which makes enjoying natural sites such as the Chihuahuan Desert Garden and hiking in the Franklin Mountains a year round option!

Jacksonville, FL - Thanks to its northeastern location, Floridas largest city also has some of the best weather. Unlike much of the state, which is wetter, warmer, and more humid, Jacksonvilles climate is sub-tropical which makes for mild weather and plentiful sunshine. The ideal months are March, April, October, and November, with temperatures ranging between the 70s and 80s. Summertime weather is warm, but due to gentle sea breezes, not oppressive, with the average being 90 F. Those who enjoy the four seasons can expect to experience them all in Jacksonville. Winter is usually quick with 10 to 15 nights per year that reach the freezing point or below. The brief cold period ushers in an early spring, and flowers and fragrant orange blossoms are typical for January through the end of March. Dont worry; FLs Hurricane Alley is much further south. Only one hurricane has made a direct hit and that was in 1871. Jacksonvilles mild climate is perfect for utilizing what is the nations largest urban park system and some of the nicest beaches in the country.

San Diego, CA - The votes are in and according to both the Farmers Almanac and The Weather Channel, San Diego has one of the best top ten climates in the country. Geographically speaking, its location along the southern coast of CA, along with its bay, hills, and canyons are what makes its climate somewhat changeable, yet usually always pleasant. Considered to have a Mediterranean climate, the average daily temperature is 64.4 F and there are usually around 42 rainy days. Ocean breezes keep the evenings cool and even with the infamous June gloom, San Diego residents can look forward to over 300 days of annual sunshine. No small wonder then that San Diego is a world-class destination for both golf and tennis. Of course its 70-mile long coastline combined with its idyllic weather are also why San Diego has long been a mecca for sailors and surfers.
