3 Awesome Gift Ideas For Dad

By:

What do you get the man that seems to have it all? I'm going to lay out 3 solid gifts that, while on the higher end of the budget, will make your dad forget all the hell you put him through just a short time ago. After all, does he really need another tie to throw in his closet? No. Read on..

Item number 1. It's the hotbed of action this year and it will make him the talk of all his friends. It'll make you the talk of all his friends when they find out he was given this as a Father's Day gift from his favorite offspring. That's right, an iPad. I was at the local coffee house the other day and a man was sitting quietly alone with his coffee and his iPad. Everyone was watching his every move. I have no idea what he was doing, but it looked awesome. He was probably emailing his son and asking him what he's getting him for Father's Day. Kidding. Anyway, newspapers are a thing of the past and trying to get worldly updates on your smart phone is a joke. iPads are large enough to easily read and small enough to carry around without looking like a technogeek. There are thousands of Apps just waiting to entertain your dad. As an added bonus, when he visits you'll be able to play around with it. What am I thinking? He's going to like his so much that he's probably going to give you one for some special occasion. So think of this as buying yourself an iPad, just on a layway sort of plan.

Item number 2. It's not something everyone would ever think of, but it's something everyone uses (or just about everyone). And while this is a high end product, you wouldn't think of something like this as "high end". That's OK, he will. I'm talking about a Yeti Cooler. They're big and tough and at the same time shiny and clean. Dad is always complaining that his beverages don't stay cold when he's spending time with his friends on the ranch or out on the boat. Did you know he broke the handle of his old cooler and has been trying to carry it with one hand on the working handle and the other under the ice box? He's going to get hurt unless you come to the rescue. It may not seem high tech, but it is. I don't know how they're made, but they can take a hammer to the side and survive (true story 1 month ago.. for another time). Again, not the coffee drinkers gift, but if your dad does any hunting or fishing, this is the cooler for him. And hey, when you're over at his house, spending time in the backyard, he'll offer it up as a seat and tell you about all the times you wore him down. This might also one day be a gift that is reciprocated, so be on the lookout.

Item number 3. This is something very few people have (as I've never seen one in person) and it would take the right man to pull it off. It's small, but will be a lifesaver one day. It's a stainless steel 8gb video watch. The screen is 1.8 inches and it's full color. Will he look silly in it? Yes. Will he use it? Yes. Dad's going shopping with mom for a couple hours? Load up the watch and he'll stay at the mall as long as she wants. What's better than watching some of your favorite shows or recorded sporting events while the wife is boring the hell out of you? As I mentioned, I've never seen one of these. I might have to change that and buy one. I don't know who makes them or what the quality of the watch is, but the idea itself is pretty fantastic. The watch has speakers or a jack for headphones and it can run on different operating system platforms. Dad will thank you for years after receiving this beauty. No more long lines. No more waiting for mom. No more worthless trips to the grocery store. This will be a life changing event for your dad.

So there you have it. Three solid Father's Day gifts for your one and only. iPad, Yeti Cooler, and a video watch. Only in America!
