The oldest tennis tournament in the world starts on 20th June Monday in London. The Wimbledon Tennis Championship is the third Grand Slam tournament of the year. It is held exactly 15 days after the French Open. The other two Grand Slam tournaments are Australian Open held in January and US Open which is held in September. Wimbledon is now the only tennis tournament on grass surface after Australian Open switched to hard courts in 1988.

The official start of the tournament is on 20th June, but for some player it starts even earlier. Between the 13th June and 16th June are held three round qualifications for entering the The Championship for player with lower rankings that didn't received wild cards by the organizers. On 15th June is day on which the Seeds are announced. 64 players, 32 from each gender receive a seed in the draw of the tournament, meaning that they will have easier opposition in the first two rounds of the tournament.

On 17th July the draw is held. The draw determines how the players are going to rank in the draw of tournament. The number one seeded player and the number two player cannot meet in the tournament before the final. The number one and number four are in one section of the draw but can't meet before the semi-finals, while the number two and three ranked players are in the opposite section of the draw and a match between them is possible in the other semi-final.

The first week of the tournament is held between 20th June and 26th June with 27th June, Sunday, is designated as a rest day for the players. Only Wimbledon from all the Grand Slam tournaments have a rest day and the first Sunday of the event is non-playable. The singles, doubles and mixed doubles tournament is spanning during the two weeks of the tournament. But the boys, girls and invitational tournament is held only during the second week of The Championship.

The format of the tournament is different for men players and the rest of the participants. Men singles and doubles play matches in formant three of five sets to determine the winner, while the rest: women singles and doubles, girls, boys and mixed doubles play in format two of three sets. If the games in the set are equal 6-6 then a tie breaker game is played. But that rule does not apply in the players reach the final set of the match. Then the winner is determined with 2 games advantage.
