2011 Latest Technology In Wind Generators

By:

2011 is seeing some exciting advancements in the field of wind generation. New models utilizing the latetest technology are rolling off the shelves from reputable companies. And the great thing about the new models is that they're cheaper than ever. The average 400 watt wind generator can be bought for right arounf $500 in most cases. That's pretty incredible, especially considering the advanced materials that most of these new models are employing, things like carbon fiber, thermoplastics, and high grade aluminum casting. Things like that are making it increasingly difficult to justify building your own wind generator. The common person doesn't really have access to advanced materials like carbon fiber. So most homemade wind generators are built strictly from aluminum and steel. This makes them obviously somewhat less efficient and generally louder than a professionally made wind generator.

Of course, most do it yourselfers prefer to build things themselves for the value of the knowledge and experience they gain from actually building things themselves. Do it yourself models generally aren't very efficient in actually generating electricity, and are usually loud and overall difficult to justify. Though a lot of people will claim that to build your own wind generator is a cost effective procedure, when all is said and done, you're probably only going to save $200, and you'll have a machine that's not nearly the quality of a professionally designed model. Most of the home built wind generators you see are really just science experiments by people who wanted to see if they could really do it. It's just tough to justify the time and effort it takes, plus the money, to build your own wind generator at home, especially when the newest models are so cheap. It's like car mechanics. I always change my own brakes. It really doesn't take a lot of time and the mechanic will charge me 5 times more than what I could do it for myself. For an oil change though, I'll never do it myself because of all the hassle of crawling under the car and disposing of the old oil, when I know that I can have an oil change place do it for just around $25. At times it's a good idea to do things yourself, and at other times it's just a big hassle.

So what are some good companies? There are a lot of brand new models rolling off the shelves in 2011, and depending on your needs, there are about 3 that are worthy of mention. There are a couple of different new brands for 2011 that I'm very excited to see in action. The big reason I get excited about these particular models is because they're pretty varied in specification, giving the buyer a nice range of choice to fit their needs. The first model is the Gudcraft WG400, and is outstandingly efficient in low wind areas. It's got 6 blades and will actually start generating electricity at a meager 5 mph of wind. The next wind generator that I really like is the Sunforce 44444. This model is brand new for 2011 and it utilizes much of the latest technology in wind generation and a lot of advanced materials for the frame and blades. It's very light and also very sleek. This particular model has gotten mixed reviews, but overall, it seems to be a solid design. The last model of generator worthy of mention is the Windmax HY400. This model is also great for low wind conditions and has a very solid designs. It's got 5 blades and begins generating power at low wind speeds.
