2 Simple Steps To Pursuing Your Passion

By:

At a very early age I knew that I did not want to get to the end of my days here on earth and look back with regret. I think that dying with thoughts of what could have or should have been would probably hasten me to my grave.
We all have passions, dreams and aspirations some may consider lofty and unrealistic. I think that only the dreamer can determine if his or her ambitions are lofty and worth pursuing. No one else can determine that for another person.
Most people spend most of their lives earning a living instead of creating a life worth living. The sad truth is, it very easy for this to happen. In my last blog post for 2009 I shared about pursuing passions. It is so important to do something that excites and inspires you every once in a while or else drudgery and monotony are sure to step in!
The 2 steps I suggest are basic and uncomplicated, although one may argue that putting the steps into practice is where things tend to get a tad iffy. If you think about it, however, sometimes doing the things that bring us the greatest joy really are not complicated.
Step 1: Find A Source of Encouragement
Find that friend or that family member who will encourage and support your efforts. At all cost, avoid toxic people during this stage. You know, the types that will cause you to question if what you are thinking of pursuing make sense.
When I was contemplating leaving my managerial job that offered me nice benefits to become a Virtual Assistant, I had to slack off two of my hangout pals. For the life of them, they couldnt see the logic in it. I guess they were trying to protect me from disappointments and uncertainties but if it was tempered with a bit of understanding as to my need to do something for me, perhaps I would not have found them to be so negative and annoying. You will need to have people in your circle that will whole-heartedly encourage because they will be a solace to your when you feel frustrated and when even you begin to question your decisions.
Step 2: Take the Plunge!
Once you decide you want to pursue that thing you are passionate about, take a step towards it.
Enroll in that training program, find a mentor and just do the things that will get you closer to actually pursuing that passion. Dont go halfway; see it through.
Since I was a child I always wanted to learn to make pottery and ceramics. Unfortunately, I never could find someone locally to teach me. While on a recent mini-vacation I met an artisan who had moved to the island. Not only did he make and sell pottery, he had his kiln and other tools of the trade and he was willing to teach me for free. I am now not only learning pottery; Im also learning to make vases and other decorations using glass. Now isnt that something?
Hang on to your passion and dont give up on your dreams, your health or finances may impede you from pursuing it now, but you just never know what tomorrow may bring!
