10 Ways Women Can Create The Illusion Of A Smaller Waist With The Right Clothing

You've dieted and dieted, worked out, and now you don't know what to do. Your waist hangs there in all its glory and all you want is a smaller waist. You can achieve this result by dressing differently. Either by drawing attention to it (or away from it) to make it appear smaller. You can still wear fashionable clothes without the need of dropping a lot of weight. Women's fashion enables you to do this!

1) Wear a scarf draped around your shoulders. This is ever-popular with Indian Salwars, but you can combine this look with a sleek fitting t-shirt or any simplistic top.

2) Wear shoulder pads to give the illusion of larger shoulders. This look was popular in the 90s but you needn't use such large shoulder pads. A subtle lift is all you need. This will make your waist look smaller and give you more of an hourglass figure.

3) If you wear a tank top or other top, wear one with a wide neck line. Avoid tank tops with wide bands which draw attention to the width of your torso. The widened neck-line will accentuate your shoulders giving the appearance of a smaller waistline.

4) Wear a long jacket and pull it in with a belt. As you pull in the belt around your jacket, the remaining material not tautly-pulled will bunch out hiding any other imperfections and creating the illusion of a small waistline.

5) Wear an A-line skirt. An A-line skirt is smaller at the waist and flows out towards your feet. This gives a natural appearance that your waist is smaller in proportion to the bottom hem.

6) Wear a long, flowing dress with a belt. For the same reasons as the jacket mentioned above, but the dress adds more versatility in look and serves as cool-clothing when the weather is warmer.

7) The belt you choose to wear should be dark in colour. The darkness gives the appearance of being smaller because of its light-retracting causation. Light colours give the appearance of expansion and dark colours the appearance of retraction. For similar reason, any top you wear (if not used in combination of the other methods mentioned here), wear dark colours and avoid multi-patterns around your mid-section.

8) Wear a shirt which pulls in around the middle and ruffles and flows out in other areas. Lots of tops offer this feature. The result is a softened look that makes you look beautiful, sexy, and shapely.

9) Wear larger shoes, such as boots or clogs. The added heaviness will help to decrease your waistline naturally too.

10) Wear straight-legged pants or pants that feature a slight flair at the bottom of the legs. For the same reason as the A-line skirt, these pants will make your waist look smaller.

Sometimes I think to myself how simplistic men's clothing is as I dread trying on everything, but thank goodness women's fashion offers such versatility. Without it, I wouldn't be able to hide my pouch.
