Follow these search engine marketing steps to help gain more backlinks to your website and get more traffic and sales:

1) Create an article or articles- Write about a topic you know well and feel strongly about. Keep it informative and to the point, with no less than 400 words and no more than 700 words.

2) Re-work the article into press releases, video and audio. You can easily tweak the content of an article to be used in a press release, or podcast. You can also use software like Camtasia or Power Point to create a visual representation of the key points in your article and post it to video sharing sites like YouTube.

3) Submit Your Article To Article Submission Sites. Be sure you follow formatting guidelines.

4) Submit Your Press Release To Press Release Submission Sites. Again, make sure your press releases are formatted correctly.

7) Submit Your Content To Blogs. You can post to your own blog, or volunteer to guest post for a friend or colleague's blog.

9) Create link popularity by submitting your links to your content to Social Bookmarking sites. Be conservative, especially if you're new to this arena, and don't overload the bookmark sites with links to everything you've ever written. Gain trust and confidence that you're not trying to spam the site by linking to other useful content as well.

10) Do it again and gain, and again! Each time you create a new piece of content, don't be content to use it once and then move on. Rework, re-purpose and tweak what you've written so it can be used at a wide variety of content syndication sites! After one round of this, you should feel confident in your ability to do it better the next time.
