10 Steps To Improving Website Conversion

If you've been in the internet marketing game for some time now, you know that the key to promoting any business online is improving its conversion rate. You should always be striving to tweak everything on a site or marketing campaign to fight for better conversions. If you can continually raise your conversion rates, you can be sure that your online local marketing campaigns are going to prove profitable in the long run.

1.Track your conversion rates: No online local marketing campaign can thrive without accurate stats and metrics. Of these, you need to know what your conversion rate is at all times. You should also keep shifting averages of your conversion rate over reasonable time spans, as this gives you a better idea of how well a website is actually converting. There are too many variables that can account for a single day spike or drop in sales.

2.Make it easier for customers to complete a transaction: The more complicated it is for a customer to add something to a shopping cart and check out, the more likely it is that they are going to abandon that order at some point during the process.

3.Place Your Call to Action Above the Fold: This means that you want your website visitors to see exactly what it is that you want them to do from the minute that they get to your site. The truth is that many people visits websites and never scroll down or click on a link, so if you can't show them your offer the minute they land there, they may not be back.

4.Try Changing Your Color Scheme: Whole books have been written about the psychology of selling, and how the littlest things can impact a person's likelihood to go through with a purchase. Experiment with different color combinations and see which improve your conversion rates.

5.Make Your Call to Action a More Focal Point: Make sure that the call to action isn't being overlooked. Utilize graphic design techniques such as surrounding it with ample white space to make sure that the eye of a visitor to a website knows exactly where it is supposed to go.

6.Add an Incentive: Whatever you call to action is, whether it is a purchase, requesting that a visitor call you or asking for their email address, if you incentivize the action there is always going to be an improved chance of someone taking that action. Offer a discount, a free item, or some other special privilege only extended to those who take action.

7.Limit the Time on an Offer: If you're offering something like a discount, sale or a great incentive on your call to action, be sure to limit the time that the offer will be available. This helps build urgency and makes people feel like they have to take action right away, rather than coming back to the site another day.

8.Limit the Quantity: This is the same basic idea as limiting the time. If you say that you only have so many of a product available, people will rush to get in on it.

9.Repeat The Offer: If you have an offer or call to action that you want people to click on or take part in, you need to make sure that its present on all your pages, not just on the homepage. That way if people land or surf to another page they will be re-presented with the offer.

10.Make changes based on data: Make ongoing changes to your page based on the data your metrics are presenting, not on whim or a hunch.
