10 Men That Changed The History Of Aviation

The ancient aircraft prototype was created in the 5th century BC and has name the kite. Roger Bacon in the 13-th century performed studies which later gave him the idea that air could support a craft just like water supports boats.

1. Edward Newport
Created and piloted an airplane of his original scheme. Tiny, well-built airplane, equipped with a low-performance (even in those days) 20 l engine.

2. Igor Sikorsky
In 1912 talented constructor designed two-wing plane which demonstrated outstanding performance. Instead of set requirement of 50 mph biplane C-6B got close to 70 mph.

3. Clement Ader
French engineer Ader built a very capable flying machine. It secretly vanished from the presenting event a few hours before the opening, immediately after the "Aeolus" was shown to the minister of warfare.

4. Wright brothers
Taking care of stability and controllability of the airplane of the future, the Wright brothers introduced related inventions and solved other important problems.

5. Alberto Santos-Dumont
Flying apparatus built by Santos-Dumont honorably represents the gallery of European aircraft of the beginning of 20th century. Constructor was able to fly as long as for 200 meters.

6. Hugo Junkers
Constructor bureau guided by Junkers revamped scheme of airplanes, their structure, shape and placement of wings. Their concept was dominating for decades. In 1915 H. Junkers designed his first all-metal monoplane, the J1. Germany just then was fighting World War I, and aluminum, which is very light in weight, was in short supply.

7. Pyotr Nesterov
In 1913 Nesterov for the first occurrence in aviation history performed a loop in the vertical axis. After a few months this technique was adopted by dozens of pilots from many countries.

8. Anthony Fokker
Fokker proposed invention that adjusted shooting in accordance to the turning of the propeller for war planes. Kinematics operated so that the shot will be delayed if the one of the rotating edges was on the bullet course.

9. Louis Bechereau
Bechereau created an excellent biplane fighter. Important features included aerodynamic body and machine V-twin engine cooled with water. The SPAD VII entered service for the French in 1916 and was the primary French fighter during 1916-1917. Constructed by Bechereau and M. Birkigt, this aircraft was fast, maneuverable and able to absorb a considerable amount of threat.

10. Roland Garros
This French war pilot and aircraft enthusiast came up with an idea that the machine gun should be installed directly in front of the aircraft seat and shoot through the propeller part.
