"green" Construction Materials For Updating Your Home

By:

Being a part time news writer or in other words a reporter, I am the journalistic equivalent of a coupon clipper. I do not look for discounts; I look for stories of interest and tuck them away until a future time when they might be relevant.

When I started noticing ads and media reports pertaining to the "green movement" I started gathering information about green start-up companies. From this I stored it away until this green thing took hold or passed like another fad. From that time I have steadily noticed a huge increase in the green awareness. For those who are not aware, Green Building, helping the environment, and anything that will save the environment or at the very least make an effort towards that end, can be considered green. (Note - some groups or companies have stretched their "green commitment" a little far, but in the end, any improvement and help with the environment is better than where we were thirty years ago.)

Green is the wave of the future, everything being built can or will have some form of green involved with it. Some things that are green are not as apparent as others, but some are very obvious and also provide a new twist to home design.

New features that are great for a green conscious person include bamboo everything. Bamboo flooring, bamboo furniture, bamboo cabinets, and I think you get the idea. Another great feature is recycled material that can be reused for construction, such as recycled shingles, recycled ply and particle materials, and recycled backing for carpets. These are just a few ideas and examples of how many things are turning green.

Subtle improvements are being made as well. For example, RTA kitchen cabinets are an in-direct way to help the environment. RTA is an acronym for Ready to Assemble. These cabinets arrive to you in a small compact box. From this you assemble the cabinets yourself (Hence the name "ready to assemble"). This type of cabinet is not only cost effective (about thirty to forty percent less than an assembled cabinet) but it is actually a better quality cabinet than most retail cabinets. By the way, RTA kitchen cabinets and RTA bathroom vanities can be found online and are easier and less expensive to buy when purchasing online (keep that in mind and do a Google search for RTA kitchen cabinets). But your still wondering how this great product helps with the environment and how this all ties together with stories of interest that I tuck away for the future.

First, RTA products save space and they are shipped in a third less space than the average cabinet. This creates more packing room and saves gas, from this less money and energy is spent on transportation, thus by buying RTA products, your doing a small part to help with saving energy.

Years ago I heard about the green movement. I was not sure what it was and where it was going, but it has defiantly taken hold and is in fact gaining ground. So that small story of interest that I saw years ago (and tucked away for future use) has now come out and is definately very relevant today.
