The Torren Agbar tower is located in Barcelona in between Diagonal and Carrer Badajoz, near Plaa de les Glries Catalanes. It is 38 story tower that is meant to mark the gateway to a new technological district in the city.

The tower was designed by French architect John Nouvel who believed the tower is a distant echo of old Catalan obsessions, carried on the winds that blow in from Montserrat. Montserrat is a mountain near Barcelona and has a geyser rising to the air, which it is Often referred to as a geyser. The structure is similar and is often compared with the 30 St Mary Axe which is also known as the Gherkin. which opened a year and a half earlier, in April 2004. The building is where the head office of the Aiges de Barcelona Group is located they are a water supply company.

The Torre Agbar features numerous different architectural concepts which is why you see this astonishing build. It was built with reinforced concrete, with the front exterior of the structure wrapped with glass. There over 4,000 window openings cut out of the structural concrete. The building is the third tallest building in Barcelona underneath the Arts Hotel and the Mapfre Tower. The building does have an defining feature of the building is its night time lights.

There are 4,500 LED luminous devices that allows that shows images on the outer exterior of the building. The building is able to create 16 million colours, this is due to extremely advance technological software and hardware. There are also temperature sensors in the outside of the tower that regulates the opening and closing of the window blinds of the faade of the building, this reduces the consumption of energy for air conditioning. Torre Agbar was inspired by the architectural legacy of Antoni Gaud. Who drew inspiration from the bell towers of the Sagrada Familia when it came to designing the proposed Hotel Attraction. The tower Torre has a tribute to the Sagrada Familia, as the north side of the tower was designed with the intention of obtaining an optimal view of the temple. He also want to prove that the opinion of a skyscraper from the Americans is wrong.

When the structure was finished it became an instant icon of the city of Barcelona and became one of its most famous buildings. But with that said it wasn't loved by everyone.
