Discovery of the telephone was a revolutionary change in the history of the human race. It was a step forward to convert this world into a global village. Several changes have been brought in it since then and many types of phone systems are in the market now including cordless sets, key systems, multi-line systems and mobile phones having their own individual importance for people, especially businessmen who have to contact their clients, partners and associates.

There are several types of phone systems available in the market but a person must choose the one meeting his requirements. Some points such as number of lines, usage time and sound quality must be considered before purchasing one. There are four major types which are used widely for business communication. First type is known KSU less system and has 10 extensions only and is used by people and organizations having less number of employees. This system is cheap and is the most frequently used one because of its easy installation and cost effectiveness.

The second type is known as PBX system which has 40 extensions. It is better than the KSU less system in many aspects. This system is used by moderate sized companies having less than 40 employees. Its price has reduced to an affordable level with the introduction of new and better systems in the market. Its installation requires less space.

Th third type is known as a key system and this system is better than both of the previous systems due to addition of certain features in it. It has 4 to 40 extensions which can be used in this range according to need.

The fourth type is known as PBX and key hybrid system and it contains features of both systems. This system is the latest one and is flexible too. It requires a software installation to function.
