How A Rouge Anti Virus Software Package Affected My Profits

Rogue anti-virus software is a growing menace at the moment; I have recently been affected by a rouge antivirus program that installed its self on my laptop computer via an email that i opened up. Win 7 total security is the identity of this virus but it also has various other names and it is designed to make you think that that your computer is attacked and the only answer to the problem is to acquire there product. The program is a crafty but very frustrating attempt to make you part with your cash. You cant mistake it when is attacks your lap top because you will be seeing a number of annoying pop ups informing you that your laptop is infected, it then gives you one option only and that is to obtain their product that is by the way an absolute con. The most irritating part about this application is that it will not let you on the The net to find a program that will eliminate it, pretty clever!.

There are a variety of ways to eliminate this, one is take your computer into a repair shop and let them remove it or the second is to find the software to remove it your self. I installed McAfee and it didn't even make a difference after spending 30.00 so i decided to let the professionals take care of it another 30.00. The repair shop sorted the problem out and the computer is fine now, I have installed AVG to protect me fro future attacks.

This wasn't the end though, then found that a couple of my web sites had been interfered with as a direct consequence of the rouge antivirus, the virus is designed to monitor the behaviour of the user and record the details of the places that you visit and also the user names ans passwords, and then send the information to the schemers who put this software on you computer. I had only logged in to two accounts that day and they where my hosting accounts for a couple of my employment web sites one my jobs in Manchester site and the other was a jobs in Liverpool website.

I had spent a lot of time and effort promoting both of the sites so they would appear on the first page of Google. The web site that was the worst affected by far was my jobs in Liverpool site as all the files on the server had been completely wiped out, luckily the data was saved on the data base and the site could be republished pretty easily. The web sites search engine position was affected it dropped from the first page of google for the search terms jobs Liverpool to page five, no doubt the site will climb the ranks again but it has put a dent in my advertising profits. To avoid this install a proper anti-spy-ware tool like AVG or Avast the two programs are free downloads and will stop Win 7 total security and programs like it dead in their tracks
