Get Back Involved In The Dating Scene

By:

If you've been out of the dating scene for a while, don't worry, it's still there. There are tons of singles out there waiting to introduce themselves to you, so it's high time that you opened the door to all of those opportunities. While online dating has certainly spiced things up, the premise is the same: set up a first date, see how things go, and take it from there. Below you will find some tips to help smooth that make that transition run smoothly.

Choose the Location of the First Date Carefully: This can be a difficult choice for many daters. Wherever you choose, make sure it's somewhere that won't leave a hole in any one's wallet. That way, if it comes down to the guy picking up the whole check, it won't be a catastrophe or anything that comes close to a deal breaker. Make sure you go for somewhere public to avoid either person feeling uncomfortable, which often happens when the location is out of the way.

Pay Attention To Your Date: Can you think of anything more annoying than someone who spends an entire date talking about themselves? Don't be that guy or girl. Keep your ears open and listen to what the other person has to say. Genuine interest will automatically lead to a great, two-way conversation that will have both people engaged.

Be Careful With Your Nightcap: It's a pretty common occurrence: the date goes well, with great conversation, and things found in common that make both people fall over giggling. Unfortunately, one glass of wine turned into one bottle turned into two, and suddenly you're pretty drunk. This is a huge turnoff for most people. You don't have to completely avoid alcohol, but make sure to enjoy it in moderation.

Don't Push Too Far At the End: This tip is usually reserved for guys. It's tough to judge what the appropriate goodbye is, but you should definitely err on the side of caution. There will be plenty of time for physical expression later on in the relationship, but for now, a simple kiss on the cheek should suffice. Pushing too far could end in disaster, and that would be a disservice to both you and your partner after such a wonderful date.

Don't Call Right Away: Don't give your date a call the second he or she gets out of the car. Instead, wait a day to get on the phone. The only time this doesn't apply is when you've made plans for the next day, in which case it seems like things are going pretty well!

Show Some Creativity When it Comes to Planning Date Two: You want to follow up your first date with something out of the ordinary. Chances are you did a simple dinner and a movie combo, so why not try to plan a date that will excite both you and your partner? Consider heading out to a local park for a picnic, or doing something cultural.
