Plaster of Paris
It is commonly used to make false ceilings. When water is added to this material, it tends to harden instantly, thus making it an ideal material for construction. It can be applied to a wooden base or a fiber base and then hung from the actual ceiling. This surface is very easy to construct, maintain, color, paint etc. It gives a classy finish and touch to the entire room!
Gypsum Board
Gypsum material is also widely used for the purpose of false ceiling. Main advantages of this material are that its flexible, fire resistant; very light, economical and moisture resistant. They can have tapered or square edges. If the joints of the ceiling need to be visible, square edges are used and if not, tapered edges are used. It is very flexible material and hence many shapes can form and a person can wear his creative hat curved, coffered, stepped, pelmet, plain etc. although it is flexible, it is very strong and can resist impacts strongly. They are also widely used for studios because they are sound proof!
Plywood
They are beautiful looking material and usually used for their visual appeal. They are glued or nailed together. They are generally sued in cold weather places because insulation is good. They are strong and visually appealing. You can paint and create various designs! But they are little costly and difficult to maintain.
Today, there are various materials available in the market to create your own false ceilings. It is advisable to consult an architect or designers before you make a final choice. False ceiling is one of the most beautiful visual appeals in a house! Do it with care and after lot of consideration.
