Some men see dating as an obstacle course. They have to navigate their ways through a series of seemingly never ending challenges just to get the girl. Plus, there's the whole women are complicated stereotype. Many men see women as being mysterious, impenetrable creatures whom they can never please. So the big quandary is how to find the girl of your dreams? What's the trick to finding the right girl? How does a guy be the perfect date without succumbing to his natural instincts? Although it seems like a veritable quagmire, dating isn't that tough.

Dating is simple, if you really think about it. There isn't one golden rule book to follow. There's no dictionary that nails dating on the head. However, there are some guidelines that prove quite handy when it comes to successful dating.

Dont get over enthusiastic. Even if youre really into a girl, the last thing you want to do is get ahead of yourself. Jumping the gun may just lead you down the path of heart break. Keep expectations reasonable and realistic.

Grow up. People need to start realizing that they aren't kids anymore. Behavior that was once acceptable no longer is when you're thirty years old. Being a slob and and a drunk is no longer cute nor charming. It may have been fine in college, but it's not cool to live like an adult child. There comes a time when people have to grow up. They have to pick up their things and become responsible. Things like being on time, apologizing for mistakes, and making smart, unselfish decisions are key not just to dating but to living.

Convey respect. Make your date feel wanted, special, important. People do like to feel like they are worth something. If you don't let your date feel like they are valued, then chances are things aren't going to work out.

Display good manners. It may seem way out of fashion to open the car door or to offer your date your arm, but those sorts of things really never go out of style. Simple courtesy is always a good thing.

Show your date that you appreciate her. Pay attention to her needs and wants. Listen to her. And don't forget to show affection. It's important that you show your lady that she matters to you, that you care about what's going on in her life. Affect and not simple lust can go a long way. Be sensible and sensitive to her feelings.

Don't dismiss unconventional date ideas. Dates that don't follow the dating rules can often lead to more interesting experiences. Don't diss what you don't know.

Think positive thoughts. Don't give up if things aren't working as you planned. Negativity is a killjoy, don't let it ruin what may be a great relationship.

Don't talk about your ex. Don't talk about how needy you are. Keep things light, fun and romantic. And enjoy. Be yourself.
