Transferring signals between two different points are referred as communication. The transfer of signals among these points is possible with the help of network cables. Network devices are connected using the network cable and this helps in flow of information within a network. Apart from network device it is also used to connect many computers to share scanner, printer and other devices. Based on the distance between the devices placed various types of cables are used. If the distance is few meters Ethernet cables are considered.
Wireless technology is available but many computes still depend on network cables for the data/signal transfer between interfaces due to its stability. Factors like network
protocol size and topology determine the type of the network cable used for connection. The cables like twisted pair, coaxial cable, Optical fiber cables are used. Computer network makes use of various types of communication devices and cables for communication. Based on the needs various types of standardized cables and equipments are available in the market.
Ethernet cables Category 5 (Cat5) or (Cat5e) are the typical patch cables which helps in connecting computer to nearby router, hub or switch. It is a twisted pair of cable and has specific standards which have to be perfect to obtain the maximum and proper signal transfer. Modular connectors are used to connect this type of cables. The cables are connected using various varieties of connectors.
Pin connectors are used for conducting power (from dimmer). They are used to power other devices too. The initial stages of construction of the Pin connector has two pins which are cylindrical (one is for neutral and another is for hot). This whole thing is arranged in a symmetrical pattern inside a rectangular housing. Solid block of Bakelite or
fibreglass fibreglass which either consist of asbestos in them are the provisions from which the housing block is milled. This asbestos impregnation provides fire resistance and a screw on cover. Some modern stage Pin connectors are inclusive of a third pin which is used as a safety concern. This is safety ground connection and is referred as 2P&G to differentiate it from two pin ungrounded connection.
Ground pin is longer compared to the other two pins in the connector which ensures that the safety ground connection is the initial connection made when connected. Longitudinal slits are found in all male pins found in the pin connectors, this slit proves useful for creating compression and increase friction when it is put inside the female socket. The slit dimensions can be changed or expanded using a pin splitter.
