Choosing A Driving Instructor

By:

When learning to drive a car it is important to find a good professional driving instructor. So how do I find a good driving instructor?

When searching for a driving instructor most peoples first rule will be to think about price. This is very foolhardy as cheap lessons do not always mean good lessons. Some instructors will charge you less because they have less experience and less qualifications.

When choosing a driving instructor please be aware that they must have the necessary documentation to teach you how to drive, if you are unsure please check the DSA's website. The DSA stands for driving standards Authority which authorizes driving instructors in the United Kingdom.

All fully qualified drive new structures must display their badge in the windscreen all times during lessons, if you're driving instructor does not display his badge be sure to him why is he may not be a qualified instructor in which case he is breaking the law.

The first place most people look is on the internet, search engines are used a lot more frequently especially as the majority of people looking to drive, or learning to drive, are between the ages of 17 and 24. Three most popular search engines are Google Yahoo and MSN. Google has the majority of search queries in the UK with Yahoo's second and MSN third.

If you do not have Internet access then you may wish to ask your friends and family where they learn to drive, and whether they would recommend their driving instructor to you. If they had a very positive encounter with their driving instructor then ask for their contact details and contact them directly.

It is always a good idea to speak directly with the instructor to you can get a feel as to how they are with you, ask them a few questions and see how they respond. Are they nervous? Do they seem to know what they're talking about? Are they inpatient? How long have they been instructing? What is their success rate?

If however you do not know anybody who has passed and their test and you don't have Internet access then you may want to open the Yellow Pages or a similar local directory and you can look up the driving schools in your local area.

Remember before you learn to drive or take a driving lesson you must have your provisional driving license, you can find the forms required to apply for your provisional driving license in your local post office or you can download the forms online.

Another factor when choosing a driving instructor is what type of car they have. How old is their car? Some instructors may not have bought a new car recently in which case you may be using an old banger which will be a lot harder to drive.

A Renault Clio is a good car to use as it is not too big and very manageable when doing certain maneuvers like three point turns and reversing round corners.

Does the driving instructor have testimonials from previously satisfied clients? Does he offer competitive and fair prices? Does his training vehicle have dual controls? Is your instructor willing to pick you up from your home, workplace, school or college?

Learning to drive can be a difficult process and I hope the information I provided will help you in choosing a good driving instructor .
